Saturday Sculpture for Emerging Artists
All levels of ability accepted. Basic skills will be reviewed at the beginning of each 3-day session as needed. Students will be encouraged to create works of art of their own design from influences in the world around them. The goal of this class is to develop a set of sculptural skills that will allow the children to work independently as artists in the clay studio. Ambitious & unique sculptures are encouraged but will require registration for multiple session with parent approval. The class includes glazing.

Homeschool Pottery Wheel and Clay Sculpture
This is a comprehensive course in throwing on a pottery wheel and developing hand-building skills. Students learn to complete projects of their own design using the most effective methods. The goal is to allow students to become self-sufficient potter's and sculptors, able to use all aspects of the pottery studio on their own.
Ages 8 - 17
8 week course
Wednesdays, 12 - 2:30  $275 per student includes everything.
 
 
 

 

 

 

 

 

Women, Wine (optional), and Wheel

Work at your current level based on your experience. You will learn techniques of basic throwing, and more advanced technique for those who are ready for it. Tool usage and a cone 04 earthenware clay body are included in the class. All studio glazes are available, as well as complete guidance in applying cone 06, painted-on glaze technique. $110. Beginners welcome!

 

Class fee includes: up to 3 pounds of clay, glaze, supplies and use of all tools to produce 1-2 finished, glazed pieces. Additional clay is available to purchase.

Dirty Date Night

This is a two day course where you will each throw one piece of pottery on the wheel, (up to 2.5 pounds each), & trim the base during the second visit.
No experience necessary. 

Glazing occurs on your own during Open Studio. Clear instructions on glazing are included in the course. 

 

Adults
Fee: $190 per couple 
1st Saturday: 7-10

2nd Saturday 7-9:30

 

Bring nut-free nibbles and drinks to share.

Bring a hand towel, hair pulled back, water-safe shoes & trim fingernails.

 

Pottery Brunch

An opportunity to unwind on the weekend.
Create beautiful pottery and learn a new art form or polish your skills.

Adults
Sundays; 9:00 - 12:00pm or 11am - 2:00pm

4 weeks with 2 open studio visits at your leisure.
Fee: $240 - All Levels.

Technique Thursdays

Not ready to play in the clay but still want to create beautiful ceramics? 
Join us for a Technique Thursday for Step-by-Step instruction on creative glazing techniques to help you create  beautiful Paint-Your-Own-Pottery ceramic pieces!
A new technique and project will be featured each month!  

First Thursday of every Month. 7:00 - 10:00pm
$35 per person - includes instruction,supplies and firing of class project piece.

Bring nut-free nibbles and drinks to share.

Pottery Wheel Open Studio

with Assistance

Thursdays; 6:30 - 9:00pm
Students choose 4 sessions from
a list of dates 6 -8 dates.
Fee: $110 for a 4 class voucher**

 

Pottery Wheel Rental

To rent the wheel, you must either have prior experience, or take a 2 session private lesson. Always call ahead for availability.

Adults

• Hourly Wheel Rental - $8 per hour*

• Wheel rental time is $5 per hour, while enrolled in classes
Clay & firing are not included In hourly rental

 

Shelf Rental

Renting a shelf gives you unlimited throwing* or sculpting table-time, storage space & reduced firing fees. Once renting a shelf, you receive discounts on many aspects of clay work.

* To Build with clay for the first time during Open Pottery Studio:
You will need a lesson taught by a clay professional so your piece will fire successfully. The instructor will provide basic instruction on technique and proper use of clay. You will be walked through your project as the instructor assists others simultaneously. The fee is $50 per hour in addition to the regular studio fee, and $30 each additional hour. 

The cost for clay is $1/lb.  Firing, glaze and second firing additional. An appointment is recommended for the lesson to insure that an instructor is available. After that, you pay only the $10 studio fee.

Future projects that require instruction will incur a Professional Fee.

• Day 3 & 4 trim/finish, pull, add handles & decoration - 

  1 hr each visit

 

8 visit private session - $345**

• Day 1 & 2  throw a vessel each session -
  1 ½ hrs per visit

• Day 3 & 4 trim/finish, pull, add handles & decoration
  1 hr each visit

• Day 5 throw a vessel -1 ½ hrs

• Day 6 throw a lid - 1 ½ hrs

• Day 7 & 8 trim/finish, pull, add handles & decoration

  1 hr each visit

 

Private Lessons for 2 people
Same as above but add 20-30 mins to each throwing session.

**$1lb. or buy a 25lb bag of #10 Earthenware: $23.50 plus firing fee, based on grid-size method.

Glazing and second firing fees are added to the first firing charge if you plan to glaze. All food-usable pottery must be glazed.
