Ages 7 -14 can sit at the wheel and begin to learn the joy of throwing on a pottery wheel. Students will have patient step-by step instruction that walks them through the process of turning a ball of clay into a work of art. Students will learn to throw on the wheel, trim the bottoms and glaze their works of art. Supplies, clay, tools, glaze and firings are included. Jul 16, 9-11am,(6 weeks in 7 weeks*) *Child will have 7 weeks to complete 6 classes, but cannot miss ANY of the throwing days, or they will have nothing to do the next week!! Make up classes are an option, but will incur a regular private lesson fee. You, the parent or guardian, will hold your dumpling on your lap so your child can experience the pottery wheel for the first time, through play! This inspirational workshop may begin a life-long love affair with the pottery wheel! This one day, 2 hour event allows you and child a chance to experiment and learn about the process of making pottery on the wheel. Experimentation will probably not end with a piece of fireable pottery, but it's the process that matters. If you love something they've made, for a small additional fee, we will fire it, and they can come back to glaze it! But whether or not they make pottery to keep, they will have made some great memories! If your kids love, love, love the whole thing, they can join the Mud Puppies or Little Creators class that begins on September 26. Try out some of the cool stuff you see online! Some experience preferred. In this 6 week course Teens will learn the process of making pieces on the wheel, but with a twist. Students will experiment with painting underglaze on the moving piece with a number of different techniques, as well as other cool tricks of the trade. Students receive step-by-step instruction for 2 hours that will cover the making, trimming, and glazing of the work.
